Region. UWS signs new agreement

The University of Western Sydney, today, will sign an agreement at the Nirimba Education Precinct, Blacktown campus, with the Department of Education and Training and the Parramatta Catholic Education Office, which will offer up to 15 Year 11 and 12 students a year the opportunity to study university units while at high school. At the ceremony, four students from Terra Sancta College and Wyndham College will be recognised and rewarded for successfully completing university units of study through UWS and UWSCollege.

Parramatta. DA by December

Parramatta City Council expects to own the entire 1.7-hectare site of the Civic Place project by the end of July. “That’s the trigger we’ve been waiting for and it should result in a development application being lodged by December this year. Our aim is to see construction start six months later,” said council’s CEO, Dr Robert Lang.

Parramatta. Plan to attract business

Parramatta City Council expects to implement a plan to attract business in the 2100/12 financial year, to stimulate demand in industries with a real interest in being in Western Sydney but not yet present, said council’s CEO, Dr Robert Lang. He said the plan was premised on the view that the CBD, Rydalmere and Westmead are the three most strategically important employment hubs in the local government area because they house the industries that will do the “heavy lifting” for Parramatta's economy in the future.
