Region. Airport report due mid-year

Federal Transport Minister, Anthony Albanese, has commissioned a joint federal-state study into locations for a second airport which is due to report by the middle of the year. The study is expected to canvass as many as 10 locations. But Labor's former preferred site, Badgerys Creek, has already been ruled out.

Region President to run for secretary's job

Alison McLaren, a Labor councillor from the Blue Mountains and president of the Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC), which covers 1.9 million people, will announce her intention to stand for the job of Labor Party national secretary, arguing the party has lost touch with Australians who live in the burgeoning outer suburbs. Labor lost 11 seats in the greater west at the March 26 election.


Region. WSROC board members elected

From this election onwards creating prosperity for Western Sydney will become the key indicator of state government performance, according to the Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC). WSROC board members, Clrs Bart Bassett and Tania Mihailuk, have been elected to state parliament. These results cap a very successful election campign for WSROC which began with its leaders debate in February, the organisation said.


Seven Hills. Warehouse on the market

Bunnings Warehouse, at Seven Hills, is one of six properties in NSW, Queensland and Victoria on the market in one of the largest sale and leaseback offerings of the year, according to The Australian Financial Review. The portfolio will be sold in one line or individually. The property has a net income of $2.2 million approximately.
